Chrome is my main browser, but i don't like the way you download things on it. I love the way internet explorer downloads things. So i was wondering if there was an extension or anything that could make downloads on Google Chrome, more like downloads on internet explorer?|||what i say is that just to download like how it is i don't think you can switch how you download so its just going to hace to stay like that|||You would have to develop a plugin because for some stupid reason no one has yet and the chrome developers thing that everyone wants to save to their downloads directory. Although this can be changed I do agree the IE download feature is the best out of any of the browsers.

Can I download Google Chrome on my Gavilan SC laptop running operating system Windows 3.0?

How long would the download take?|||This is obviously a bs question as the Gavilan SC ran Gavilan OS MS-DOS 2.11 and could never of run Windows 3.0 Anyone who knows what a Gavilan was would also know that google chrome can't run on 1983 machines and a simple search on the chrome website would reveal that it is only compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7|||windows 3.0 o.O, if your trying to download and install chrome it will not install on windows 3.....however im 95% sure that you do not mean windows 3.0 as this is VERY old.

if you are just trying to download the file there is no way to tell you how long it will take witout knowing your download speed|||Windows 3.0!!!

(I don't think you can find an option to do so even in 'modify windows components), because it is not just used in showing web pages, a lot of internal files, such as the Help and Support programme uses Internet exploreer controls.

Shifting to other browsers is a very good choice, I personally thinkIE is very very crappy.

Google chrome is fast and simple. We get a larger view of the pageall the tie, there's nothing thats unnecessary, everything is clear and simple. You can perform all necessary functions (save web page, zoom in or out, use in-built download manager, password manager, auto-fill...) easily. Simplicity I would say is the best feature.

However, sometimes it closes abruptly, restarts itself( and may ask us whether or not to replace tabs...), which I find annoying, Leaving that, I would call Chrome the perfect browser.

Fierfox is fast and stable (start-up time is a little more than chrome), easy to use, with tabbed browsing... The most compelling thing is that it suports 'add-ons'. You can freely download add-ons and enhance your browsing experience to a great extent. It is a great gift if you are a web deevloper. Firefox has acquired tremendous popularity with recent trendof going open source.

I really love using Opera- its fast and easy to use, there are a lot of options. What I like the most is that we can save even Dynamic web pages perfectly (And I MEAN perfectly) in a single file (Web Archive).

Safari is good too, but its almost like Chrome except in looks.

Leave it alone, I myself use firefox, cause while not quite as fast as google chrome, it has more safety features, such as wot and site advisor addon's.. Plus adblock plus with rick's easy list. So, i do not see a bunch of ad's and i know which sites are safe .|||The only real problem with Google Chrome is that it is a very simple interface when compared to IE or FF. It takes some getting used to. Also, you'll find that some websites that aren't coded for compatibility might appear strange.

When you do the Chrome installation, it will prompt you if you would like it to be your default browser. Select yes. It won't interfere with IE at all, so no need to uninstall.

If you ever uninstall Chrome, you will need to manually set IE back as your default browser, otherwise hyperlinks in documents and emails will get you nowhere.

Oh, and Chrome is FAST!|||No need to delete anything. In fact in my 3 year old laptop with Vista I have IE, Firefox and Chrome. I prefer to use Firefox because is faster, and stable.

I can't re-download google chrome...?

When I opened google chrome this morning, my computer said I couldn't. I restarted my computer, and tried to open chrome again, but it still wasn't able to open. Then I found out I had a trojan horse from google chrome. I ran my anti virus program (AVG 8.5) and it said I didn't have any infections. I tried re downloading google chrome. While it was installing, the same pop up from AVG told me I had a trojan horse, so I moved it to the virus vault. I checked in the vault, but it wasn't there. Again, I tried to download google chrome but the same pop up stopped me and I couldn't download chrome due to "errors".

I tried to Download Google Chrome and once the download starts it never finishes?

Please give it sometime, cuz it downloads something like 40 to 50 MB file, so if you have a slow connection, it will take time. Same thing happened to me but I left it to complete and its working now.

So I went to google.com/chrome, downloaded the installation file, and double clicked it to open it. I then receive a message saying "Google Chrome Installation failed. Please try again. Error code = 0x80040154"

I have windows xp sp 2.

|||All I can tell is you not to worry, you are completely safe. I know the general public feels the need to have Anti-Virus Software but the biggest problem is the technical complexity that makes them almost useless to have on any PC.

Nonetheless your A.V. Software may be a big help to you but the biggest problem I have ever seen with them is the fact that they unjustifiably mark completely safe files as being "bad" when it is just lazy programming. Don't let your antivirus bring you down or cause or any worries.

I compare Windows antivirus to an old annoying over bearing whiny mother or grandma that just has no idea most of the time. Those with basic safe PC operations don't need to be whined at and told to do what to do. Your Safe, just tell Grandma Antivirus to settle the heck down.|||So far, Chrome has really been a treat to use!

Fast downloads, quick browsing really make this one a treat to use.

The download page doesn't show any download history in it but the bottom bar (The one where if you download the blue arrow points to) shows my downloads. Google Chrome Download Speed?

I just recently switched to google chrome from firefox. Is there a reason why the download speed on google chrome is slower than firefox? When I download on firefox, it goes at an average of 140 kb/s but on google chrome, the speed is literally cut in half at a stable 70 kb/s. This is downloading one file at a time. Is there a reason for this? And is like download speed somewhat dependent on the file size at all? This bugs me because I download a lot of videos.|||That's because the default downloader in Chrome sucks. Okay, so when I'm downloading Google Chrome, after I hit accept installation and everything, a little window will pop up that says, "Connecting to the Internet...". Which version of IE are you using to download it? If it's 6, it might not work.

I would try canceling and restarting the download. If that still doesn't work, clear IE's cache (that should be somewhere in the tools of file or somewhere), and then go back to the download page and start it again.

A frozen Google Chrome Download?

So i recently started to use orbit downloader to download some stuff and i didn't like it, so i uninstalled the program thinking it would get rid of it right? But it didn't. And now every time i try to download something in google chrome (maybe other Internet browsers to i haven't tried any) it trys to download it using orbit, and since i dont have it anymore i cant download it.|||You do not need to change browsers or install/reinstall anything. Edit: DAP is an artifact from the 90's. Modern web browsers both accelerate and resume downloads now.|||I recommend you not to download such large files through browsers but instead you can download some softwares like Download Accelerator Plus(DAP), or Internet Download Manager (IDM).... I agree you can have more than one browser installed at the same time, but I would seriously recommend getting away from IE, in other words uninstall it. It is a risk just having on your system, even though you may never use it.|||Keep IE just in case you ever need it for certain sites, but download Mozilla Firefox instead. Google Chrome is ok, but I personally feel that Firefox is the best (and I've used IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Netscape etc.) I've tried them all, and I still love using Firefox. It has customizable designs now too!|||You can use as many browsers as you want, no need to uninstall anything. I recommend chrome because is faster, takes less memory, has google search integrated (results suggested while you type the address, you can misspell the web address and it will find it anyway), has "incognito session".|||I'd never uninstall IE, just because there are several websites that absolutely require IE (which is wrong, I think). Why cant I download anything on google chrome?

Everytime I try to download something on google chrome, the download freezes and the time keeps going up. For example, if it says 1 min left, it goes up to 2 then 3, 4 , 10 etc

And its not my internet because the download freezes.

Please help thanks|||My Google Chrome does this as well sometimes. I restart my internet, and restart the browser. Then try again. If it still doesn't work, sadly i have to open Internet Explorer to do downloads.

just start Internet Explorer, goto Tools -%26gt; Internet Options.

Click the Program tab, and check the box for the default browser. click ok and restart Internet Explorer.|||ANY TIME my friend.

Downloading/Installing Chrome does not remove old Internet Explorer.

Mozilla Firefox and Google chrome download problems?

when ever i download something on Firefox it downloads it but the (open) is not in black and i can't click it. for Google chrome when i double click the tab at the bottom when it say download complete i double click it and nothing ever come please help.|||Have you tried opening the downloaded files on their containing folder? Try to open them first.. If still it cannot be opened, try restarting the system and open the files again. Hope it works.

im having trouble figuring out how to get google chrome to download to where you want it to download becuase when ou download something you really dont know where it goes.|||Click the wrench at the top right of the browser%26gt;Options%26gt;Under the Bonnet. Now scroll down the page until you get to the 'Download' section. Here you can browse for a folder you want Chrome to download files to.|||Download it,

and go to "My Computer, and go to Uninstall or change program, and find that you download google chrome"

Why won't Google Chrome download for me?

I didn't try installing google chrome in it because I didn't change the processor so that is the same as it was .but one thing for sure is I like xp more than vista. maybe because I had xp for 5 years and i'm not use to vista yet .
